Dear Neighbour,
It will soon be time to cast our ballots once again. Among the hype and the rhetoric, you will need to decide which candidate can best serve the needs of Sackville, and of Nova Scotia.
I Believe:
- Conservative principles do more for the economy than tax-and-spend.
- Paying down our provincial debt needs to be government's priority.
- Our education system needs to be more flexible, providing resources to homeschooling families and independent schools. Students not in public schools should write the same exams as those who are, and those results should count towards our provincial standings.
- Nova Scotia women have a right to a midwife-assisted birth. Midwives need to be fully integrated into our health care system with hospital practicing privileges.
- Parents need to be held accountable for the actions of their children.
- We need more affordable housing in Sackville.
- People are well-served when government partners with non-profit groups to provide certain services like social housing.
- Government needs an arms-length relationship between both unions and business.
- Unions on both sides of the bargaining table does not serve the people of Nova Scotia.
- People have a right to safe streets and communities.
- Nova Scotia's French-speaking, Black, and Native communities add to the richness of our culture and must be respected.
- Seniors need assurance that services will continue to be available for them.
- Day programs for the mentally handicapped need to be expanded in Sackville.
- People have a right to get the health care they need when they need it.
- Having access to nature is one of Sackville's greatest strengths. Second Lake Park must be designated as park reserve.
- In expanding trail development in the Sackville area.
- That the Cobequid Cultural Centre for the Arts must become a reality, to support the creative artists in Sackville.
- That green energy solutions are needed. Nova Scotia must reduce our dependence on fossil fuels.
- That important heritage sites need to be preserved and enjoyed, and these can co-exist with new development.
I am interested in hearing your concerns, please don't hesitate to email or call me.
This is an important election for Nova Scotia. I look forward to your support on June 9th.
Thanks, Jessica.
